If you are a fan of mosaics and you would like to use your own images to come up with a personal, good looking mosaic, then I invite you to try the Boris A. Glazer-developed software application Mazaika. With Mazaika you can take a bunch of small images, put them together, and come up with a larger image – a photo mosaic. You can use any type of image to pull this off because Mazaika provides support for just about any file format you can think of. In coming up with a photo mosaic you can even use icon files – they have to be 32x32 pixels though.

To enjoy the functionality Mazaika has to offer, you will first have to get a 3.6MB archive onto your computer. After extracting its contents, run the setup executable to launch the setup wizard that will guide you through the installation process. You will get to select the installation directory and choose if you want a Mazaika desktop shortcut or not.

Once Mazaika is ready to use and you launch the application, you will be presented with a wizard that will ask you what you want to do: create a new tile library, open an existing tile library and create a mosaic, or save a mosaic? The steps in creating a mosaic with Mazaika are the following: create a tile library using the images of your choosing -> select a source image that will be the theme of the mosaic -> divide the source image into cells and render mosaic -> save the mosaic. There’ a detailed and comprehensive Help file that will tell you all you need to know should you have problems figuring out how Mazaika works.

You have a grand total of 30 days to figure out how Mazaika works and put its functionality to the test. When that evaluation period is over you will have to get a license to keep using the application.

Get this professional tool if you want to create good looking mosaics. It's as simple as that.

Pros

Simple installation process; can be installed on just about any Windows version. Use as many images as you want to create a photo mosaic; use any type of image you want. Manually arrange the images in the mosaic or let the application do it automatically for you. The Mazaika wizard can prove to be very useful. There’s a detailed and comprehensive Help file.

Cons

Free to use for a trial period of 30 days.
